Om Malik believes that in the next ten years we will experience a jump into a new era of broadband internet. He calls this new internet age “Ultra Band”. 50 megabits and even higher internet connections will be normal for everyone. The new broadband web also requires a change in our life style. On the other side it will create a whole set of new opportunities and challenges.”You need to live the broadband to invent something”, says Om.

In his opinion Twitter represents the big evolution towards the end of communications. Om thinks, that a lot of people don’t seem to go beyond the short messaging part.

His San Francisco based company Giga Omni Media produces several blogs of which GigaOm is probably the most known. According to their website they reach 1.75 million people a month around the globe. Giga Omni Media employs 18 people.
